Early Care Foundation, formerly ASHA Trust, has had a rich and meaningful journey in South Africa, having evolved from an organisation called African Self-Help Association established in 1938.
1938
Association established to provide pre-school care of working mothers in Soweto.
1990
ASHA Trust formed as a separate entity to hold and manage the assets of the Association consisting of the 41 pre-school buildings in Soweto.
2009
Trust becomes operational in the informal ECD sector.
Initiation of the Bramfischerville ECD building project.
Development of first ECD skills development training facility.
2012
Launch of Bramficherville Centre of Excellence
Materials development to address knowledge and skills gap of practitioners
2015
Presence in 2 provinces: Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
2017
Expansion into third province: North West.
2018
Expansion to four provinces.
Rebranding into Early Care Foundation
2019
Receives QCTO accreditation for our first full qualification in ECD Level 4.
